Smokey Quartz and Sterling Pendant - Mid Century Style

This is a piece I made for my neighbor.  It is smokey quartz set in sterling and fine silver.

The stone has a "high dome" cut.

I tried to get a good balance or proportion to the various parts.
I never really like things just plunked "in the middle".

That would look like this.

Oxidized Copper, Sterling and Ellensburg Jasper

Ellensburg Jasper, fine silver bezel

The colors are cupric oxides from heat and the soldering process.

A little bit of car wax.

Ellensburg Blue Pendant - Sterling

The stone is about 20 carats of very high quality Ellensburg Blue.  It is a faceted emerald shape.

Setting to hold the stone and still show the facets.  I don't much like prong settings.

Clean and simple design.  I like this shape, slightly wider at the bottom than the top.

Window on the back.
This picture shows the color of the stone accurately.

Ahhh....

The picture below shows two pendants at the point right before setting the stones.  There is a certain amount of pressure and violence in moving the metal to hold the stones.  The tape is to minimize any scuffs or dents in the rest of the piece.

Also, don't forget to goof off.  ;)

Ellensburg Blue Pendant - Sterling #2

The setting is slightly asymetrical.  The stone is more of a blue/purple from the Ellensburg Agate field.
You can see slight pinks as well.

Window on the Back

Sort of a brushed finish, to keep the soft feel of the shapes.
